CloudMounter is an application for macOS developed by Eltima Software, released on July 12, 2016.[1] It has both standalone[2] and Mac App Store[3] editions, with several technical differences between the two.[4]

CloudMounter - Easily mount cloud storage as local drive on Windows Updated - December 24, 2019 by Arnab Satapathi Accessing cloud storage services like Google drive or Dropbox from a web browser is not very convenient always. CloudMounter is your must-have tool if you use several cloud accounts or if your Mac SSD drive has an extremely low capacity. Try it now and enjoy the benefits of an all-in-one cloud solution. The subscription types available are: - Free. For basic functionality. Standard: 3 month - Economy: 1 year. Subscriptions are auto-renewable unless.

CloudMounter allows you to map cloud storage drives as local drives. The application supports Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Amazon S3. Although not currently advertised on their website, the cloud storage service Wasabi is supported too. CloudMounter is available for Mac and Windows. G: is the Drive Letter selected to be the mount point for the SMB Share in the step 2. Container1 is the directory inside the share, which I created to be used in this task definition. App-state is the directory that is going to be exposed into the container. 5.2 The Volume was configured in the Task Definition Level. Pros: For me, the main advantages of CloudMounter are: 1. It replaces all individual cloud storage clients. Instead of having to install each software from Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and other vendors, I just need to install CloudMounter, and it gives me access to all those cloud storage accounts.

Overview[edit]

CloudMounter enables mounting accounts of cloud storage services and file servers onto a Mac machine as if they were removable drives. Their contents then can be accessed through Finder.[5][6] It supports the following services:

  • Dropbox
  • Google Drive
  • Microsoft OneDrive
  • Amazon S3
  • WebDAV
  • FTP, SFTP and FTPS[5][7][8][9]

The main window of the app is a connections manager, where each supported service is assigned to a button.[8] To mount a required drive, a user chooses the corresponding service, enters login credentials and adds a new connection to the list. Clicking 'Mount' will display the new drive in Mac Finder.[9][10]

Unlike native clients of the storage services, CloudMounter does not perform synchronization and thus does not occupy hard drive space on Mac. The files are downloaded only when the user opens them.[11] The software allows adding any number of supported cloud accounts.[12][13][14]

CloudMounter does not store login credentials of the added connections. Passwords are kept in macOSKeychain. They are sent directly to the servers only when required. Logging into the cloud accounts is performed through their standard APIs.[14][15]

The app is distributed through a paid license, and there is a 15-days free trial to test the full version of the software.[16]

When external hard drives are gaining more popularity for the ability to store huge volumes of data, SSDs or solid state drives are also gaining popularity among a big class of users for the speed and convenience it has to offer. SSDs are lightning fast and it is a convenient option to boot from an SSD or run some heavy programs directly from it without waiting for an eternity to start the same. But SSDs are not convenient among users to store huge volumes of data for their prices per gigabyte at the first place. While cloud storage services are always a great choice for users to store documents and photos, but it is still not that convenient for everyday uses.

Most popular cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive make it easy to sync files between a PC and the cloud storage for easy and hassle-free access, but that still might be a trouble for users having a limited capacity SSD. In such a situation, using an external hard drive is the only convenient option but that isn't as convenient every time, as syncing files directly between a PC and the cloud storage. But if you rely heavily on cloud storage services, using an SSD to sync huge volumes of data can be an extra pain, and it is where CloudMounter come to play.

Other necessary details like the amount of space you can use, etc. will be shown to you.

Step 11: By default, the drive letter for the mapped drive will be ‘Z'. You can always change it to any other drive letter as per your convenience. I am keeping the drive letter to default ‘Z'. Finally, click on ‘Mount' to mount the cloud storage drive as a mapped drive.

Step 12: To add a new cloud storage drive, simply click on ‘Add new connection' and repeat the same steps all over again.

Step 13: You can always change the drive letter or unmount the drive by clicking on ‘Unmount'.

Step 14: Just open ‘My Computer' or ‘This PC' to find out Z drive or any other drive letter you have chosen, along with the name set by you.

Just in case you want to change any settings, like the mapped drive letter, the name, or anything else, you will have to unmount the mapped drive at first and then proceed with making the changes.

CloudMounter is thus pretty simple to set up, and the best thing is that you can access all the files the same way you do with normal cloud storage sync, without occupying any space on your SSD or low storage drive.

CloudMounter should always run in the background so that you can get access to the cloud storage drives with the help of Windows Explorer.

You can get a license for personal use on Windows only for $35.39 or almost 2,600 INR after your 15 days trial is finished. Thus, it isn't that costly as well.

Hope the small information was helpful for you. Do you have anything else to say about the program? Feel free to comment it down below.
